Job Details:
Applications are invited for a JRF position at IISER Bhopal under the supervision of Dr. Ashis Biswas in a STARS, MoE-funded project titled:
“Understanding the Biogeochemistry of Selenium Cycling in the Soil–Porewater–Plant System in the Seleniferous Soil of Punjab, India, to Develop Rice and Wheat Cultivation Strategy for Reducing Selenium Toxicity and Grain Accumulation.”
Fellowship: ₹37,000 + 18% HRA per month (for NET/GATE-qualified candidates)
Duration: 1 year (extendable based on performance and mutual interest for Ph.D.)

Educational Requirements:
- M.Sc./M.Tech in Soil Science, Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, Earth Science, Geology, or Chemistry.
- Minimum 60% aggregate or CGPA/CPI 7.0 (on 10-point scale).
- Qualified CSIR-UGC NET, GATE, or equivalent national-level eligibility exam recognized by DST/DBT/ICAR/ICMR/IITs/IISc/IISERs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on selenium biogeochemistry in soils and plants.
- Collect and analyze environmental samples.
- Operate IC, ICP-OES, and ICP-MS instruments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for data interpretation and sustainable agriculture strategy development.
Skills Required:
- Strong laboratory and analytical skills.
- Experience in environmental and molecular techniques.
- Proficiency in data analysis and instrument handling.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
