The strategic partnership of Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) is being operated through Program Management Unit housed at BIRAC.BIRAC is acting as Implementation Agency for Grand Challenges India Program through Program Management Unit.This collaboration is for mission-directed research to support health research and innovation that could dramatically change the health and development landscape in India and other countries facing similar challenges.

PO-11 No. of Position: 01 [One]Consolidated Remuneration: The consolidated Remuneration for Program Officer- between Rs.60,000 to Rs.2,10,000/- Lump Sum per month depending on the experience and qualifications.
Job Description: The Program Officer will serve in the Program Management Unit (PMU) for the Grand Challenges India (GCI) at BIRAC. Reporting to the Mission Director, PMU the Program Officer will get an opportunity to design and execute the programmes under the purview of Grand Challenges India (GCI) focussing on Public Health, Maternal Child Health, Nutrition, Infectious Diseases, Medical Technologies and other related priorities of national interest
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
- Will be responsible for execution and implementation of the GCI & related programs which includes monitoring the progress of the projects both technically and financially, working closely with the Scientific and Technical Advisory groups for project review and supervising grant management activities.
- To shape and execute scientific grants and research contracts leading to social innovations in healthrelated areas, Maternal Child Health, Nutrition, Infectious diseases, Medical Technologies etc;
- Provide clinical inputs on programs related to maternal/child health, immunization, nutrition, medical technologies, and coordination and technical management of all aspects of an ongoing Grand Challenges Programs;
- Manage specific investments, and will also be an important liaison to DBT and BMGF a substantial portfolio of complex grants requiring high-level grant management skills, including applying and evaluating milestone-based performance objectives;
- Responsible for timely execution of programmes and financial management of grant;
- Serve as a partner and resource person to grantees to facilitate accomplishment of strategic objectives;
- Synthesize and document results from grants and contracts including preparing briefings and portfolio reviews to leadership;
- Prepare detailed analytical reports on the project related subjects, interact with experts for project review.
Essential Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Life Sciences/ Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Public Health.
Desirable Qualifications: Ph.D in Life Science/Biotechnology/ Pharma/ Agri/ plant Science/ M.Tech from a recognized institute
Experience:
- Program Officer – 2-3 years of in the area of Program Management in any government setting/ institute/ industry.
- Experience in working in funding agency will be preferred.
Age Limit: Program Officer: 30 Years as on closing date of application.
