About the Role:
The Medical Coder will be responsible for reviewing and translating clinical documents, medical reports, and patient records into standardized medical codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II systems. The role ensures accurate coding to support billing, reimbursement, compliance, and data integrity for healthcare operations.

Key Responsibilities:
Review patient medical records, operative reports, discharge summaries, and physician documentation for completeness and accuracy.
Assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on documentation and established coding guidelines.
Ensure compliance with all official coding guidelines (AAPC, AHIMA) and payer-specific requirements.
Verify medical necessity of procedures and diagnoses for insurance claims.
Collaborate with physicians, auditors, and billing teams to clarify ambiguous documentation.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, disease processes, and healthcare regulations.
Participate in internal audits, quality checks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Meet productivity and accuracy targets as per organizational standards.
Assist in identifying coding errors and trends to enhance coding accuracy and compliance.
Qualifications & Skills
Required Qualifications:
• Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Pharmacy, Nursing, or any related healthcare field.
• Diploma or certification in Medical Coding (mandatory).
• Certification (Preferred):
• AAPC – CPC (Certified Professional Coder)
• AHIMA – CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) or equivalent
• Experience:
Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in medical coding, preferably in hospital/clinical or RCM (Revenue Cycle Management) setups.
