The Scientific Writer Job at Absolute:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Scientific Writer to support our R&D division. This role sits at the intersection of research, intellectual property, and business development, requiring the ability to distill complex scientific concepts into impactful written communication. The candidate will be responsible for writing and reviewing research articles, patents, invention disclosures, white papers, technical reports, and business-oriented presentations. They will collaborate closely with R&D scientists, patent attorneys, and cross-functional teams to ensure timely dissemination of scientific knowledge, intellectual property protection, and technical communication for internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities for the Scientific Writer Job:
- Draft, edit, and review research articles, review papers, white papers, and technical reports for publication and internal circulation.
- Ensure scientific accuracy, clarity, and compliance with journal/editorial standards.
- Collaborate with R&D scientists to translate experimental findings into manuscripts, presentations, and technical documentation.
- Draft invention disclosures, patent applications, and related IP documentation in coordination with external patent attorneys and internal R&D teams.
- Support timely IP filings and management of intellectual property databases.
- Prepare scientific and business-oriented presentations, posters, and conference materials.
- Contribute to grant applications, marketing pitches, and technical proposals for business development.
- Develop and maintain scientific content repositories, literature reviews, and competitive intelligence summaries.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, Business Development, Regulatory Affairs, and Legal.
Qualifications required for the Biotech R&D Role:
- Master’s/PhD in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or related field.
- 2–6 years of experience in scientific writing (academic or industry).
- Experience in patent/IP management and working with attorneys preferred.
- A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of molecular biology, synthetic biology, protein engineering, or related domains.
- Knowledge of Indian and international patent processes and IP management tools.
- Proficiency in literature databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to translate complex scientific concepts into clear, concise documents.
- Strong project management and coordination skills.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
