About The Institute
The Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) is a research institution under the Biotechnology and Innovation Research Council (BRIC-CDFD) funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. BRIC-CDFD provides services in the areas of DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics, and performs cutting-edge research in several frontier areas of modern biology. The Dissertation-based Research Training Programme invites applications from interested individuals to undertake research at CDFD.
About the Research Programme at BRIC-CDFD
- Duration: Minimum 4 months, maximum 6 months
- Location: BRIC-CDFD, Inner Ring Road, Uppal, Hyderabad, Telangana
- Training Mode: Dissertation-based laboratory research in molecular biology, genetics, biotechnology, and allied areas
- Start Period: December 2025 onwards (till December 2026)
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates eligible for the Research Programme at BRIC-CDFD include:
- Students pursuing M.Sc., M.Tech, M.Pharm (any semester) or B. Tech, B.Pharm, Integrated M.Sc. (from 3rd year onwards) in Life Sciences or allied disciplines.
- Applicants must have achieved First Class throughout their academic career (10th, 12th/Intermediate, and degree levels up to the previous semester).
Application Procedure
Option 1 – Direct Online Application

- Labs will be allotted based on research interest and Statement of Purpose (200 words / 1500 characters).
- Applications open once a year (Sept/Oct); selected candidates are notified in November 2025.
Option 2 – Direct Contact with Scientist / Group Head
- Candidates may contact the BRIC-CDFD faculty directly with their research interests.
- Selection depends on lab availability.
- Once accepted, candidates must submit the official application and consent letter from the Group Head, along with a bona fide certificate.

Hostel Accommodation
- BRIC-CDFD will attempt to provide hostel accommodation free of charge, subject to availability (excluding food and personal expenses).
- Local candidates will not be provided accommodation.
- Candidates must have valid health and accidental insurance (minimum coverage: ₹1 Lakh) at the time of joining.

- Minimum training period: 4 months (failure to complete will result in no certificate).
- Certificates will be issued only upon successful completion.
- Incomplete applications or those missing academic/caste/eligibility certificates will be rejected.
