Research Programmes Available
PhD and M.S.(Engg.) Positions are available in the following units:
Evolutionary and Organismal Biology Unit (EOBU) – PhD
- Eligibility: M.Sc. in Life Sciences, Biological Sciences, Mathematics, Physics; B.E./B.Tech. in Biotechnology, Biological Engineering, or any Biology-related area; M.E./M.Tech. in Biotechnology/Biological Engineering
- Qualifying Exams: Valid GATE / NET-JRF desirable
- Focus: Candidates will work on evolutionary and organismal biology projects with access to interdisciplinary research facilities.
Molecular Biology and Genetics Unit (MBGU) – PhD
- Eligibility: M.Sc. in Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Biological/Life Sciences, or Chemical Sciences; B.E./B.Tech. in Biotechnology/Bioinformatics; M.E./M.Tech. in Biotechnology/Bioinformatics
- Qualifying Exams: Valid GATE / NET-JRF desirable
- Focus: Candidates will perform molecular biology, genetic, and bioinformatics research using cutting-edge technologies.
Neuroscience Unit (NSU) – PhD
- Eligibility: M.Sc. in Life Sciences, Biological Sciences, Neuroscience, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, or Pharmacy; 4-year B.Sc. in Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Bioinformatics; MBBS/MD; Master’s/4-year Bachelor’s in non-biology fields with interest in Neuroscience; M.E./M.Tech. in Biotechnology/Bioinformatics
- Qualifying Exams: Valid GATE / GPAT / NET-JRF desirable
- Focus: Candidates will conduct interdisciplinary neuroscience research, including cellular, molecular, and computational approaches.
Eligibility Criteria
- M.Sc., M.E., M.Tech., B.E./B.Tech (4-year program), B.VSc./M.VSc., MBBS/MD as applicable
- Minimum 55% marks in aggregate for M.Sc./M.E./M.Tech., 75% for 4-year Bachelor’s programs
- Qualifying in national exams such as GATE, GPAT, UGC-JRF, CSIR-NET-JRF, ICMR-JRF, DBT-JRF, INSPIRE-JRF
Selection Procedure
- Shortlisting based on academic performance and national exam scores
- Final selection through interviews; some Units may require an aptitude test or preliminary interview
- Only shortlisted candidates will be called

Fellowships
