The National Institute of Immunology (NII) offers opportunities for students to undertake short-term training (6 months) under the following conditions.
Mode of application:
Applications should be submitted through the Institute’s portal for the January 2026-June 2026 session.
Eligibility
Applicants must be in the final year of one of the following programs:
a. Master’s degree (M.Sc., M.V.Sc, M. Tech, Integrated M. Sc., M. Pharm)
b. Four-year (8-semester) undergraduate engineering degree (B. E./B. Tech)
Academic requirement
A minimum of 60% marks is required in all major examinations, starting from secondary school onwards.
Mandatory requirement
The six-month training must be a compulsory component of the student’s degree program
Full-time commitment
Students must be available full-time for the entire duration of the training.
Purpose and conduct
The training is solely for academic and research purposes. Students must follow all rules and regulations of NII.
Declaration requirement
Applications must include a declaration from the student’s Head of Department Institute, in the prescribed format. Failure to submit the declaration in the prescribed format will result in cancellation of the application. Click here to download the format.

Accommodation
Shared on-campus accommodation may be provided, subject to availability.
Broad area of training
Applicants must mention their broad area of interest from the following subjects, with a brief justification (within 50 words).
- Immunity and Infection
- Genetics, Cell Signalling, and Cancer Biology
- Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, and Structural Biology
- Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, and AI/ML applications in Biology
