The Foundation for Medical Research (FMR), a public trust and a well-recognized national research organization (SIRO), conducts basic biomedical, translational, and public health research in the areas of infectious disease and environmental and community health.
The Foundation invites applications from eligible candidates to work on the following post on a contract basis in a multicentric research project funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)-funded extramural project, “Symptom agnostic screening in high transmission settings and characterization of asymptomatic tuberculosis in India: host and pathogen factors,” with a maximum duration of 2 years. A component of this study, conducted at FMR, focuses on evaluating the feasibility of mask-based sampling followed by RT-PCR detection of tuberculosis in screening for asymptomatic TB.

Essential Qualification and Experience
PhD in life sciences from a recognized university
OR
Master’s degree in life sciences from a recognized university with a minimum of four years of research experience
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience working with molecular diagnostic techniques
- Experience in working in the field of tuberculosis
- Experience/expertise in laboratory skills, including biospecimen handling, nucleic acid extraction, and real-time PCR
- Good communication skills: scientific writing as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, habit of wider reading
- Good working knowledge of research databases and statistical software
- Trained in GCP, GLP & ethics in the conduct of research with human subjects
Location: Mumbai (travel involved)
Scope of Work:
- Conducting all the laboratory research work related to the project and research data analysis
- Harmonization of lab SOPs for biospecimen collection, storage, complete log, quality check, and usage, along with well-annotated clinical data
- Harmonization of SOPs for all laboratory experiments
- Assist in the preparation of training modules & conducting training programs for clinical site staff
- Consumables purchases and maintenance of lab inventory and laboratory supplies
- Maintenance of project master files and documentation
- Coordination with the central study team for the proper functioning of the study
- Communication/coordination with all investigators & research staff and other participating centers
- Ensure implementation of policies & practices, maintain records, create reports, and assist in drafting proposals
- Generate monthly reports on lab activities and study progress
- Maintain all documents & records related to the study, conduct periodic audits, and assist in preparing annual reports
- Contribute to writing manuscripts
- Other work assigned by the study PI
Upper Age Limit: 40
Duration: Initially for one year, extendable for further project periods subject to satisfactory performance of the candidate
Consolidated Salary: Rs 56,000 + HRA as admissible, salary commensurate to experience
