Project Details
- Project Title: Screening of pregnant women and newborns for genetic and metabolic disorders in Nabarangpur, an aspirational district in Odisha (DBT-UMMID Project)
- Principal Investigator: Dr. P. V. Ramchander, Scientist-F, Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar
Position 1: Lab Technician
- Number of Posts: 01
- Upper Age Limit: 50 years
- Remuneration: ₹20,000/- per month + HRA
- Essential Qualifications
- B.Sc. in Life Sciences or Medical Laboratory Technology
- OR Senior Secondary with Science subjects plus a year’s diploma in Medical Laboratory Technician (DMLT)
- OR One-year DMLT plus one year of relevant experience in a recognized organization
- Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in laboratory work—preferably in the diagnosis of Sickle Cell Disease and newborn screening in Government, PSU, or autonomous institutions.
- Job Responsibilities
- Receive, label, and analyze biological samples.
- Coordinate with the Data Entry Operator to maintain accurate test records.
- Organize and store samples, reagents, and chemicals safely.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and manage lab supply inventory.
- Use basic computer applications such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Perform any additional laboratory-related activities as assigned by the Principal Investigator.

- Minimum one-year post-qualification experience in data management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data handling and analysis.
- Desirable Qualifications
- Two years of work experience, preferably in a laboratory or research setting.
- Job Responsibilities
- Manage query handling and data cleaning for electronic data capture systems.
- Perform accurate data entry and report generation.
- Transcribe clinical data from paper CRFs into digital databases.
- Maintain communication between project teams and collaborating institutions.
- Support compliance and reporting as per project protocols.
