Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Junior Technical Support Engineer with a strong foundation in Bioinformatics to join our growing team. The ideal candidate should have strong observational skills, excellent communication, and a passion for both technology and customer success. You will support life science researchers and clinicians by resolving issues related to our genomics data analysis platforms and ensuring exceptional user satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide technical support via phone, email, chat, or in-person for genomic data, NGS pipelines, and bioinformatics software.
• Troubleshoot software issues, including Linux and scripting environments.
• Log all customer interactions and resolutions in the ticketing system.
• Collaborate with software development teams to escalate and resolve complex bioinformatics issues.
• Test new genomic products and features; provide detailed feedback.
• Create and update support materials such as FAQs and knowledge base articles.
• Track product updates and industry trends in genomics and bioinformatics.
• Ensure timely resolution of customer issues and high satisfaction levels.
• Contribute to process improvements that enhance support efficiency.
• Participate in after-hours on-call support when required.
Required Technical Skills
• Master’s or B.Tech in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
• Proficient in Linux (file management, command-line usage, system navigation).
• 0–2 years of experience in technical support or related fields (freshers welcome).
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and observational abilities.
• Basic understanding of computer systems and operating systems.
• Experience troubleshooting software/hardware issues.
• Familiarity with ticketing systems and remote support tools.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to excellent service.
Preferred / Advantageous Skills
• Familiarity with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) file formats (FASTA, BAM/SAM, VCF).
• Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and public databases.
• Working knowledge of Bash scripting and Python.
• Experience with JIRA or similar ticketing tools.
