The D.E.S.I.G.N. for BioE3 Challenge is launched under the BioE3 Policy – Biotechnology for Economy, Environment & Employment. This nationwide competition encourages Indian citizens to apply the D.E.S.I.G.N. framework:

Who Can Participate in the Department of Biotechnology Vacancies
- Open to all Indian citizens, individually or in teams of up to 5 members.
- No institutional affiliation is required for Round 1.
- Round 1: Submit a concept proposal (max 1500 words) via the BRIC-ILS D.E.S.I.G.N. Portal.
- Round 2: Shortlisted participants submit detailed proposals to BIRAC through affiliated iBRIC+ or DSIR-recognized institutions.
Rewards & Recognition
- Monthly Top 10 Winners: ₹1,00,000 each + mentorship from DBT BIRAC experts.
- Up to 100 Winners: RDI funding up to ₹25,00,000 each for converting ideas into Proof of Concept.
- Showcase on DBT, BIRAC, and iBRIC+ platforms.
- Access to 15 iBRIC+ institutions, DBT-BIRAC bioincubator networks, and DBT-BRIC Biomanufacturing & Biofoundries for advanced proposals.
