Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the Biological Sciences PhD, candidates must meet the following:

  • Age: Below 28 years as of application closing date (relaxation as per GoI rules).
  • Fellowship: Valid Junior Research Fellowship (CSIR-UGC NET, DBT-JRF, DBT-BINC-JRF, ICMR-NET, DST-INSPIRE, JEST, or equivalent) valid until at least 31st January 2026.
  • Educational Qualification: Master’s degree (Engineering/Science/Technology/Medical) with minimum 55% marks for the general category; 50% for SC/ST/OBC/Differently Abled candidates. Final-year students who qualify in a national-level test are also eligible.
  • Special Fellowship Considerations: DST-INSPIRE or other fellowship holders must have qualifying scores in national-level examinations.

Fellowship Details

Fellowship support will be provided as per the Government of India norms:

  • Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): ₹37,000 + HRA
  • Senior Research Fellowship (SRF): ₹42,000 + HRA
