Research Jobs at ISI | MSc Graduates Apply Now for the Project Associate Position
The Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata, a premier research institution under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India, is inviting applications from motivated candidates for the recruitment of Project Associate – I (Nematology) and Project Associate – I (Machine Learning). These positions are offered under a DBT-funded project on Machine Learning-based Image Identification of Nematodes and are purely temporary in nature.
About the Institution
The Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata, established in 1931 by the renowned statistician Professor P.C. Mahalanobis, is a premier institution devoted to research, teaching, and application of statistics, mathematics, computer science, and related interdisciplinary areas. Recognized as an Institution of National Importance by an Act of Parliament, ISI operates under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India. The institute is internationally acclaimed for its contributions to statistical theory, data science, natural sciences, and social sciences, and plays a pivotal role in advancing research and training for national development.
- Project Associate – I (Nematology):
- Essential: M.Sc. in any discipline of Biology or equivalent with minimum 60% marks.
- Desirable: Research experience with nematodes and published peer-reviewed journal article.
Pay and Tenure
The selected candidates will receive a monthly salary and allowances as per Institute rules. The initial duration of the appointment is till 31 March 2026, with a possibility of extension based on performance and availability of funds.
Age Limit
- Not exceeding 35 years as on 21 September 2025.
- Relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/Women/Differently-abled candidates as per GoI rules.
- May be relaxed for exceptionally bright candidates with experience.
