Job Purpose
The Research Associate Job role of Computational Chemist is to support drug discovery and material science projects through computational modeling, cheminformatics, QSAR/QSPR modeling, and data science
techniques.Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and optimization of small and large molecules using structure- and ligand-based approaches
- Implement QSAR/QSPR modeling to predict molecular properties and enhance compound selection
- Apply cheminformatics to analyze and interpret chemical and biological data
- Use data science techniques, including machine learning, for computational chemistry datasets
- Prepare reports, contribute to design sessions, and support computational tool/workflow development
Educational Qualification
- Master’s degree in Computational Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related field
- Experience with computational techniques for drug discovery
Technical / Functional Skills
- Strong knowledge of computational methods for drug discovery and material science
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Schrodinger (Maestro, Bioluminate, Materials Science), MOE, ICM, Cresset, KNIME, and Pipeline Pilot
- Expertise in QSAR/QSPR modeling, cheminformatics, and data science approaches
- Proficiency in molecular dynamics simulations, quantum chemistry, docking, pharmacophore modeling, and homology modeling
- Familiarity with Linux-based HPC clusters, GPU systems, and high-performance computing
- Python programming skills (preferred)
Experience
- 1–2 years of experience in drug discovery, medicinal chemistry, or computational modeling
- Strong interest in applying innovative techniques to advance medicinal chemistry and material science projects
