Job Summary:
The QC Microbiology professional is responsible for performing microbiological testing and ensuring compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). The role involves routine monitoring of the production environment, testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet specified microbial limits. The individual will also be responsible for documentation, data interpretation, and assisting in investigations related to microbiological deviations.
Roles and Responsibilities – QC Microbiologist
• Microbiological Testing
o Perform microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and water samples as per SOPs.
o Conduct microbial limit tests, sterility tests, endotoxin tests, and bioburden tests.
• Environmental Monitoring
o Perform routine environmental monitoring of cleanrooms and controlled areas (air, surface, personnel monitoring).
o Trend and report environmental monitoring data to identify potential risks.
• Media Preparation & Qualification
o Prepare and qualify microbiological media, reagents, and growth promotion tests.
o Ensure proper sterilization and documentation.
• Equipment Operation & Calibration
o Operate and maintain microbiology lab instruments (Incubators, LAF, Autoclaves, Particle Counters, etc.).
o Ensure timely calibration and qualification of equipment.
• Work closely with Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams.
• Report equipment performance, deviations, and process improvements to the Production Supervisor/Manager.
