The Microbiologist (Quality Assurance) will be responsible for ensuring that all dairy products meet established microbial safety and quality standards. The role involves sample testing, monitoring of hygiene & sanitation, documentation, investigation of non-conformities, and supporting continuous improvement in microbial control.
Key Responsibilities

Perform routine microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards.

Execute environmental monitoring: swabbing of plant surfaces, equipment, and production area to detect microbial contamination.

Support the sanitation / cleaning program: verify effectiveness of cleaning, conduct microbial swab tests before and after sanitation.

Analyze test results; identify trends, deviations, and potential microbial hazards.

Conduct investigations/root cause analysis when results are out of specification, including customer complaints if applicable.

Maintain laboratory equipment: calibration, cleaning, validation, upkeep.

Prepare, review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to microbiology and QA.

Maintain accurate records of tests, results, corrective actions, lab logs, etc.

Ensure compliance with food safety standards (HACCP, ISO, FSSAI, etc.).

Coordinate with production, QC, and QA teams to ensure adherence to hygiene & microbial safety protocols.

Train production / lab staff on good microbiological practices, hygiene, sample handling, etc.

Support audits (internal / external) with respect to microbiology / QA as required.
