The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata, Mohanpur, Nadia, West Bengal – 741246, invites applications for a Project Associate I position under an MOE-STARS-funded project in the Department of Biological Sciences (DBS) and Department of Chemical Sciences (DCS). This position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.

Project Details:

  • Title: Multimodal Photocatalytic Therapy Based on NIR-Active Perovskite-Peptide Nanocomposites for Hard-To-Treat Lung Biofilm Infections
  • Principal Investigator: Prof. Amirul Islam Mallick
  • Position:
    Project Associate I
  • Duration: Maximum 1 year (subject to performance and funds availability)
  • Start Date: October 15, 2025
  • Pay Scale: ₹31,000 + HRA per month (as per rules)

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Biology or Chemistry
  • M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Zoology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Synthetic Chemistry, or related field in Life Sciences/Chemical Biology
  • Preference for NET/GATE/equivalent national-level test qualified candidates

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Basic computing skills (MS Office)
  • Prior experience in animal experimentation (mice)
  • Minimum 1 year experience in:
  • Characterization of biomaterials
  • In vivo and in vitro efficacy testing (cell-based and animal models)
  • Handling microbiological samples
  • Molecular tools and immunological assays
  • Spectroscopy and imaging techniques (SEM/TEM/AFM)
  • In vitro/in vivo bioimaging

Age Limit: 35 years (with reservation as per government rules)

Work Assignment:

The project is in its final year. The selected candidate will:

  • Assist the PI with in vitro and in vivo animal experiments
  • Contribute to documentation, record keeping, and expenditure management
  • Support ongoing project-related research and reporting activities
