About the Project
IIT Hyderabad invites applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a project funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF).
The project, titled “Self-assembly of colloids in designing lightweight solid foams”, aims to explore freezing-induced self-assembly of shape-anisotropic colloidal particles. The research will focus on developing lightweight particulate foams by mapping critical parameters like particle aspect ratio, polymer concentration, freezing rate, and freezing direction, while correlating their mechanical and thermal performance with microstructural features.

Job Responsibilities
- Synthesis of colloidal building blocks and polymer handling.
- Conduct freezing-induced assembly experiments.
- Microstructural characterization using optical microscopy, SEM, X-ray tomography, and image analysis.
- Mechanical and thermal performance testing using UTM, rheometry, and thermogravimetric analysis.
- Documentation, analysis, and presentation of research findings.
Eligibility Criteria for MTech Biotechnology JRF Opportunity
Essential Qualifications:
- M.Tech/ME in Chemical Engineering, Chemical Technology, Biotechnology, Material Science & Engineering, or related fields.
- MSc in Physics/Physical Chemistry.
- Exceptional B.Tech candidates in the above disciplines may also be considered.
- CGPA ≥ 6.0 (or 60%) in all qualifying degrees.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in wet-lab projects (colloidal synthesis, polymers).
- Hands-on with SEM, rheometry, and microscopy.
- Strong analytical and research aptitude.
Age Limit:
- 35 years (relaxable based on the Government of India norms and the applicant’s experience).
