Job Summary:
The Microbiologist at Nectar Lifesciences is responsible for performing microbiological analysis, environmental monitoring, and sterility testing to ensure that raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and manufacturing environments meet regulatory and quality requirements. The role ensures compliance with cGMP, GLP, and regulatory standards while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting audits.
Roles & Responsibilities
• 1. Microbiological Testing & Analysis
• Perform microbial limit tests, total viable count, pathogen testing, endotoxin tests, and water analysis as per pharmacopeial standards (IP/BP/USP/EP).
• Conduct sterility tests, bioburden analysis, and antibiotic assay (where applicable).
• Perform growth promotion tests and media validation as per SOP.
• 2. Environmental Monitoring
• Conduct routine environmental monitoring of cleanrooms and classified areas (air sampling, surface swabs, personnel monitoring).
• Record, trend, and report environmental monitoring data to detect any potential contamination risks.
• 3. Water System & Utilities Monitoring
• Collect and test purified water, WFI, and compressed air samples as per schedule.
• Ensure compliance with microbiological limits and report any out-of-limit results immediately.
• 4. Equipment Operation & Maintenance
• Operate and maintain microbiology laboratory equipment such as autoclaves, laminar air flow units, incubators, particle counters, and sterility isolators.
• Ensure calibration, qualification, and maintenance of all microbiology equipment as per schedule.
• 5. Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain logbooks, worksheets, and test records in compliance with GDP (Good Documentation Practices).
• Ensure that microbiological data is accurately recorded, reviewed, and archived.
• Support preparation and review of SOPs, protocols, and microbiological reports.
• 6. Deviation Handling & Investigations
• Report microbiological deviations, OOS/OOT results, and support root cause investigation.
• Implement CAPA and monitor effectiveness to prevent recurrence.
• 7. Audit Readiness & Regulatory Compliance
• Ensure the lab is inspection-ready at all times.
• Support internal audits, client audits, and regulatory inspections (WHO, USFDA, MHRA).
• 8. Training & Safety
• Follow aseptic techniques and lab safety procedures at all times.
• Participate in training sessions and help train junior staff and technicians on microbiological techniques.
Key Skills & Competencies
• Sound knowledge of microbiological techniques and pharmacopeial methods (USP, EP, IP, BP).
• Experience with environmental monitoring, sterility testing, and water system microbiology.
• Familiarity with cGMP, GLP, WHO, and USFDA guidelines.
• Good documentation and data integrity practices.
• Problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and teamwork skills.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Education: M.Sc. (Microbiology / Biotechnology) or B.Sc. (Microbiology with relevant experience).
• Experience: 1–2 years of experience in QC Microbiology in pharmaceutical manufacturing (API or formulations).
• Industry: Pharmaceutical / Biopharmaceutical / API manufacturing (OSD preferred for Baddi site).
Interview Process:
• Mode: Direct Interview/Virtual Mode
• Rounds: 3 Rounds
• First round can be virtual but all the interview after that will be on site / direct interview.
• First round will be with supervisor.
• Second round will be with HOD.
• Third round will be with the director of the company.
