Job Description
NIPGR is offering two temporary research positions — Research Associate-I and Project Associate-I — under a prestigious Gates Foundation-funded project. Selected candidates will work on gene editing-based approaches for developing climate-resilient chickpea and brassica varieties.
1. Research Associate-I (One Post)

Emoluments: ₹58,000/- + 27% HRA per month.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must hold a PhD degree in Life Sciences with a strong publication record (at least one SCI research paper). Prior work experience in chickpea-pathogen interaction studies is required, with a preference for candidates who have experience in chickpea transformation.
2. Project Associate-I (One Post)

Emoluments: ₹25,000/- + 27% HRA per month.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Life Sciences with at least 55% marks. Experience in genetic transformation and gene editing is required, with a preference for candidates with expertise in chickpea-related research.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct experiments related to chickpea and brassica gene editing.
- Perform chickpea-pathogen interaction studies.
- Contribute to genetic transformation research.
- Maintain detailed records of research progress.
- Publish findings in reputed journals.
- Collaborate with project team members under the supervision of Dr. Senthil-Kumar Muthappa.
Qualifications
For Research Associate-I
- PhD in Life Sciences.
- Strong publication record (at least one SCI paper).
- Prior experience in chickpea-pathogen interaction studies.
- Preference: Experience in chickpea transformation.
For Project Associate-I
- Master’s degree in Life Sciences with at least 55% marks.
- Experience in genetic transformation and gene editing.
- Preference: Chickpea research experience.
