Life Science Job IISER Kolkata – Position Details
- Post: Field Assistant
- No. of Positions: 1 (One)
- Duration: 6 months (extendable based on performance and project requirements)
- Salary: Rs. 24,800/- per month (Rs. 20,000 + Rs. 4,800 HRA)
- Location: Eastern parts of the Terai-Duar Savanna and Grasslands ecoregion (Assam & nearby areas)
- Age Limit: As per Government of India rules (with applicable relaxations)
Life Science Job IISER Kolkata – Essential Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Botany/Ecology/Environmental Science/Life Sciences OR 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry
- Strong motivation to carry out intensive fieldwork
- Skills in field botany (woody & herbaceous species identification)
- Interest in biodiversity and ecosystem research
- Ability to work collaboratively in field teams
Desirable Qualifications
- Prior experience in:
- Plant identification
- Woody vegetation & grassland surveys
- Insect (especially ant) sampling
- Familiarity with ecological field methods, data collection, and sample handling
- Adaptability and teamwork in challenging field conditions
