MSc Degree in Microbiology
Experience:
- 3-4 years of experience in microbiology laboratories.
- Prior experience in the Food or Pharma industries is required.
Executive Microbiologist Job Overview:
The Executive Microbiologist will ensure that all Dry Pet Food products meet Mars specifications by monitoring raw materials, process parameters, and conducting microbiological testing. The role supports the Quality Control Lab Manager in laboratory operations, compliance with GLP, cost optimization, and effective implementation of food safety and quality systems (HACCP, PRPs).
Key Responsibilities:
Plant Responsibilities:
- Conduct analyses of incoming raw materials and finished products according to microbiological test plans.
- Perform routine microbiological tests in accordance with Mars Micro Verification Standards.
- Communicate product status for release, hold, rework, or rejection.
- Ensure compliance with hygiene, sanitation, and GMP standards.
- Calibrate laboratory testing equipment as per the schedule.
- Track and report microbiological performance using trend charts, and initiate corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain laboratory data, test records, and documentation.
- Conduct environmental monitoring of the plant, including swabbing, air testing, and water testing.
Supplier Interface:
- Monitor supplier performance based on the quality of raw materials.
- Handle non-conformities and maintain supplier quality records.
- Coordinate with external labs for shelf life and market sample testing.
Support Quality & Food Safety Systems:
- Assist in HACCP implementation, cleaning, and sanitation.
- Support CCP/OPRP verifications through sample testing.
- Participate in GMP verification across the site.
Other Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate GLP and contribute to lab cost optimization.
- Train associates on food safety, hygiene, and GMP practices.
- Support Mars QMP (Quality Management Process) and SES Management systems.
- Collaborate with other microbiologists and external vendors for testing needs.
