Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Food Science & Technology with 3 years’ experience, OR Master’s degree with 2 years’ experience.

Strong technical expertise in LC-MS, ICP-MS, and GC-MS techniques.

Experience in rice grain quality, nutritional analysis, or food safety preferred.

Proven ability to supervise small teams and contribute to publications.

Job Purpose
This role at the Centre of Excellence in Rice Value Addition (CERVA), IRRI South Asia Regional Centre, Varanasi, focuses on research in rice grain quality, nutrition, and safety. The Assistant Scientist will utilize advanced techniques, including LC-MS, ICP-MS, and GC-MS, to conduct biochemical and nutritional analyses of rice and rice-based products.
Key Responsibilities:

Design and execute research in analytical biochemistry using LC-MS, ICP-MS, and GC-MS.

Conduct targeted and untargeted nutritional profiling, bioactives, vitamins, amino acids, and food safety testing.

Develop SOPs, ensure ISO 17025 compliance, and maintain MS laboratory operations.

Train and supervise technicians, interns, and students in laboratory procedures.

Contribute to scientific publications, project reports, and presentations at conferences.

Collaborate with IRRI scientists and international partners to strengthen rice research.
Allowances & Benefits:
