Brief Job Overview
USP, a nonprofit scientific organization, sets standards for the identity, strength, quality, and purity of medicines, food ingredients, and dietary supplements worldwide. USP standards are enforceable by the U.S. FDA and used in over 140 countries. This position is a hands-on, individual contributor role focused on bioanalytical projects, reference standards, documentary standards, and biologics characterization.
How You Will Create Impact at USP
You will support USP’s mission to improve access to high-quality medicines by contributing to biologics reference standards, global verification programs, and R&D projects. Through scientific rigor and collaborative work, you will help advance globally relevant standards that strengthen health systems.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Execute analytical techniques: Chromatography (HPLC/UPLC/nLC), SDS-PAGE, Western blot, IEF, enzymatic/protein assays (spectrophotometer, plate readers).
- Perform LOD & water content experiments, assay experiments, and RS projects.
- Conduct HPLC data analysis using Empower, Open Labs CDS, or equivalent software.
- Work on compendial, R&D, and proof-of-concept studies for proteins, enzymes, vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, peptides, antibiotics, raw materials, and other biologics.
- Troubleshoot laboratory issues and ensure compliance with QMS, cGLP/cGMP standards.
- Coordinate with global teams, prepare/review SOPs, project reports, and support audits (ISO 9001, ISO 17025).
- Recommend process improvements in laboratory and project management.
Qualifications
- MSc/M.Tech/M.Pharm in Biological Sciences with 3–6 years of experience in Analytical R&D or QC in biopharma.
- Strong background in method development, validation, technology transfer, and biomolecule characterization.
- Expertise in chromatography (Ion Chromatography, SEC-MALS), Circular Dichroism, or Capillary Electrophoresis.
- Knowledge of reference standards development and biologics reference materials.
- Experience working in cGLP/cGMP environments.
Additional Preferences
- Competence in technical writing, communication, and presentations.
- Proficiency in ELN (Electronic Laboratory Notebook).
- Strong collaboration skills.
