Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Enzyme Development Scientist to join our growing R&D team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in molecular cloning, enzyme purification, protein engineering, and assay development. You will play a key role in building and optimizing our enzyme development pipelines and mentoring junior researchers.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and execute experiments related to enzyme expression, purification, and performance optimization
• Independently carry out molecular cloning, vector design, and site-directed mutagenesis
• Conduct enzyme activity assays (in vitro and in cell-free systems) and interpret kinetic data
• Apply bioinformatics tools for enzyme analysis, sequence alignment, and structural modeling
• Optimize microbial expression systems (e.g., E. coli, yeast) for high-yield production
• Collaborate on interdisciplinary projects involving CO2 reduction and bio-electrochemical systems
• Maintain detailed lab records, develop SOPs, and contribute to technical reports, publications, or patents
• Mentor interns and contribute to training efforts within the team
• Participate in lab operations including procurement, inventory, and equipment maintenance
Required Qualifications
• M.Sc. / M.Tech / Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology, or related field
• Minimum 1 year of hands-on laboratory experience in enzyme R&D or molecular biology
• Proficiency in:
o Recombinant protein expression and purification (e.g., affinity chromatography)
o Molecular biology techniques: PCR, cloning, gel electrophoresis, etc.
o Enzyme assay design and troubleshooting
Preferred Skills
• Experience with bioinformatics tools (e.g., BLAST, SWISS-MODEL, PyMOL)
• Familiarity with protein engineering, cell-free protein expression, or directed evolution
• Exposure to bio-electrochemical systems or enzymatic carbon capture is a strong plus
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and collaborative mindset
• Excellent documentation, communication, and time management skills
