We are seeking a Senior Editor to manage and develop a portfolio of new Medical and Life Sciences
journals. This role involves launching titles, driving strategic growth, ensuring editorial integrity, and delivering excellent author service. Reporting to an Executive Publisher, you will work closely with internal teams, editorial boards, and the scientific community.Job Details

Qualifications & Skills:

PhD (or MSc with research experience; genetics preferred) in biomedical, health, or life sciences.

Proven manuscript handling and journal development experience.

Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Customer-focused, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities.

Willingness to travel and represent Discover at events.

Previous editorial experience preferred; open to considering junior associate-level candidates.
Key Responsibilities:

New Launches: Lead the timely launch of new journals, meeting board, and content targets, and propose new titles in your subject area.

Content Development: Create tailored journal strategies, attract high-quality submissions, and collaborate with colleagues on subject-specific goals.

Peer Review Quality: Oversee editorial handling, manage ethics cases, and maintain high standards while prioritizing author service.

Editorial Board Management: Build strong relationships, recruit and train board members, and host regular meetings.

Community Engagement: Promote journals through marketing input, website enhancements, conference participation, and social media.

Team Contribution: Support colleagues, participate in cross-departmental projects, and represent Discover across Springer Nature.
