Job Description:
The Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), Mohali, seeks applications for a JRF/SRF to contribute to cutting-edge research in molecular spintronics. The project involves theoretical and computational approaches in quantum chemistry and physics, providing a platform to advance scientific knowledge and develop innovative solutions in spin-polarized molecular electronics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct computational and theoretical research on spin-polarized molecular systems.
- Perform programming and simulation tasks related to quantum chemistry and quantum physics.
- Collaborate with team members and contribute to research publications.
- Present research findings in meetings and scientific conferences.
Qualifications:
Essential for JRF:
- Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course.
- Selection through national eligibility tests like CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship/Assistant Professorship) or GATE.
- OR selection through national-level examinations conducted by central government agencies (DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.).
Essential for SRF:

Qualifications prescribed for JRF with two years of research experience.
Desirable:
- Strong background in quantum chemistry and/or quantum physics.
- Prior experience in computational work and programming.
- Motivation for a research career in computational sciences.
Age Limit:
- JRF: Not over 28 years as on 19 August 2025 (relaxable for reserved categories as per GOI rules).
- SRF: Not over 32 years as on 19 August 2025 (relaxable for reserved categories as per GOI rules).
Fellowship:
- JRF: ₹31,000/- per month + HRA (as applicable).
- SRF: ₹35,000/- per month + HRA (as applicable).
Duration:
Five months or until project completion, whichever is earlier.
General Terms:
- Position is purely temporary and contractual, co-terminus with the project.
- Candidates can apply for the regular PhD program at INST if they meet the eligibility requirements.
- No TA/DA for attending the interview.
