Indian nationals are invited for one (01) temporary position of Project Research Scientist – I (NM) under the project “Therapeutic Potential of Carnosic Acid in decreasing Astrocytic TREK1-mediated Excitotoxic Alzheimer’s Disease”
in the School of Biological Sciences, NISER, Bhubaneswar, funded by ICMR, Govt. of India.Essential Qualifications:
- Postgraduate degree, including the integrated PG degree in Life Sciences/ Molecular Biology/Genetics/Genomics/Bioinformatics/Life Sciences/ Zoology/Biotechnology or equivalent.
- These qualifications must be obtained from a recognized Board/University/Institute.
Desired Qualification: PhD in Life Sciences/ Molecular Biology/ Genetics/ Genomics/ Bioinformatics/ Life Sciences/ Zoology/ Biotechnology or equivalent.
Research area: Neuroscience, ion channel biology, and neurodegenerative diseases. Specifically, understanding the role of the TREK1 ion channel in Alzheimer’s disease.
Desired Qualification: The ideal candidate should have a strong experimental research background, demonstrated by publications with at least one first-author paper. Proficiency in molecular biological techniques, namely, western blotting, ChIP-PCR, luciferase reporter assays, EMSA assay, cloning, lentiviral particle designing and production for gene delivery, CRISPR-Cas9 editing, and confocal microscopy will be preferred, as these techniques are integral to analyzing and visualizing pathophysiological changes occurring in neurons mechanistically.
Monthly Emoluments: ₹56,000/- pm plus HRA as per rules
Age: 35 years as on 27/08/2025, age relaxation to entitled categories as per rules.
The above position is purely temporary for a period of 12 months or completion of the project, whichever is earlier, and strictly co-terminus with the project. It would, therefore, not confer any right/ claim, implicit or explicit, for consideration/ absorption against any NISER post.
