Job Description:
The Deputy Manager – Bioinformatics will work in the Animal Breeding Group, focusing on genomics, wet lab work, bioinformatics analysis, and handling genotype data. This role involves analyzing genome sequence data, coordinating with the genomics lab, providing analytical support to clients, and conducting training or workshops related to genotyping and bioinformatics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compile and warehouse genome sequence and genotype data.
- Analyze genotype data and provide analytical services to meet customer requirements.
- Undertake collaborative research with assigned students.
- Validate DNA isolation and genotyping methods.
- Coordinate routine genotyping, breed composition estimation, parentage verification, and discovery.
- Manage procurement of genotype equipment, consumables, and chemicals.
- Organize and conduct training programs, workshops, and review meetings.
- Perform additional tasks assigned by the Animal Breeding Group.
Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:
- MSc (Genetics/Bioinformatics/Biotechnology) with 2+ years of experience in sequence or genotype data handling, or
- Ph.D. in Genetics/Bioinformatics with 1 year of experience, or
- MVSc in Genetics/Bioinformatics with 1 year of experience.

Desirable:

Experience with wet lab experiments, Linux, R, Python, and genome sequence data handling tools.

- Proficiency in wet lab instruments and LIMS.
- Strong bioinformatics, data analysis, and genome sequence handling skills.
- Knowledge of variant discovery, genotype quality control, and large-scale sequence data processing.
- Ability to adapt to new software, automate routine analyses, and write scientific reports.
