Job Title: Assistant Professor – Bioinformatics

Location: Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu

Employment Type: Full-time, Faculty Position

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality instruction at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in bioinformatics and related courses.

  • Develop new curriculum modules that integrate biological science with computational tools.

  • Supervise student research projects, dissertations, and thesis work.

  • Engage in high-impact research and publish in reputed peer-reviewed journals.

  • Apply for grants and collaborate with internal and external research partners.

  • Contribute to academic administration and departmental growth initiatives.

  • Mentor students, provide academic guidance, and support co-curricular development.

Qualifications & Eligibility Criteria:

  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics or a closely related discipline from a recognized institution (mandatory).

  • Must possess B.E./B.Tech and M.E./M.Tech qualifications in relevant fields (only candidates with this academic pathway will be considered).

  • Strong academic background in bioinformatics, computational biology, and life sciences.

  • Proficiency in molecular biology, genomics, data analysis, and bioinformatics tools/software.

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching, academic planning, and research supervision.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and promote collaborative research.

Desired Skills for PhD in Bioinformatics:

  • Hands-on experience with bioinformatics software and databases (e.g., BLAST, NCBI, UniProt, R, Python for bioinformatics).

  • Familiarity with wet lab techniques and omics technologies is a plus.

  • Proven track record of research publications, grant writing, and conference participation.
