Position Overview
D-NOME Biosciences is hiring a Scientist – Molecular Biology (B) to support cutting-edge research in recombinant protein expression, purification, and gene editing. The successful candidate will work within an interdisciplinary R&D team, reporting to a Senior Scientist, and will be deeply involved in the design and execution of molecular biology experiments, chromatographic purification, and assay development.
Essential Qualifications
• M.Sc. in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a closely related field.
• 2–3 years of relevant laboratory or industry experience, specifically in recombinant protein workflows.
Required Technical Skills
Molecular Biology & Cloning
• Proficiency in routine molecular biology techniques, including:
o Restriction enzyme digestion, ligation, and bacterial transformation
o Colony PCR, plasmid isolation, agarose gel electrophoresis
o PCR, aPCR (asymmetric PCR), and DNA quantification
• Strong understanding of plasmid-based construct design and sequence validation.
Recombinant Protein Expression
• Experience working with bacterial expression systems such as E. coli (BL21 and related strains).
• Optimization of protein expression conditions:
o IPTG induction
o Temperature modulation
o Time-course expression studies
• Use of fusion tags (His, GST, MBP) to improve protein solubility and facilitate purification.
Protein Purification & Chromatography (Core Focus)
Direct hands-on experience with ÄKTA chromatography systems (ÄKTA Start / ÄKTA Pure):
- Column packing, buffer preparation, and gradient method design
- Method execution using UNICORN software
- Fraction collection and interpretation of chromatograms
Protein quantification and analysis:
- Bradford or BCA assays
- SDS-PAGE and Western blotting for quality control and characterization
Soft Skills & Work Ethic
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and record-keeping practices.
- Effective communication and ability to collaborate in a team-based environment.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute in a fast-paced R&D setting.
