Role Overview
As an Associate Scientific Business Analyst for Biological Studies, you will serve as the critical bridge between Amgen’s research scientists and technology teams. You’ll analyze complex biological workflows, translate them into actionable system requirements, and lead LIMS platform implementations. This role is part of Amgen’s mission to accelerate life-saving innovations through streamlined scientific data systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a Scientific Business Analyst in an Agile/SAFe environment
- Manage and configure LIMS platforms (STARLIMS, LabVantage, Watson, etc.) for biological studies
- Translate scientific needs into epics, user stories, and functional requirements
- Oversee data integrity, compliance, validation, and system training
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across global research and informatics
- Contribute to AI/ML integration for research-wide data capabilities
- Develop product roadmaps, manage risks, and support cloud/on-premise solutions
- Drive operational excellence, cybersecurity, and compliance in scientific data systems
Who You Are – Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Cheminformatics, or related field
- 2–6 years of experience in a scientific/technical environment
- Hands-on experience with LIMS platforms and Agile tools (JIRA, Confluence)
- Strong analytical and scientific problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
Preferred Skills
- 1+ years with LIMS configuration or support
- Experience with Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs)
- Understanding of GxP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GLP, and GCP
- Familiarity with bioanalytical workflows and biospecimen management
- Knowledge of AWS and hybrid cloud environments
- Exposure to AI/ML tools in drug discovery research
- SAFe certification preferred
