About the Institute

IISER Kolkata invites eligible candidates to attend a walk-in interview for a Research Assistant position in a WBPCB-funded project focusing on restoring urban wetlands in Kolkata using microbiome-based bio-engineering approaches.
The role involves supporting field-based and lab-based research aimed at ecological restoration and environmental monitoring of two waterbodies in Salt Lake, Kolkata.

Project Title:
“Restoration of two urban waterbodies under Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation, Salt Lake, Kolkata”Funding Agency: West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB)
Position Type: Temporary (Initially for 3 months, extendable)
Number of Vacancies: 1
Salary: Rs 30,000 per month
Age Limit: Must not be over 35 years as on 9th June, 2025 (age relaxation available for specific categories)
Background of the Project: The project aims to restore urban wetlands in Kolkata using microbiome-based approaches.
Qualifications
Educational Qualification:
Master’s degree in Natural Sciences, such as Microbiology / Applied Microbiology / Botany / Environmental Science
Preferred Experience:
Fieldwork, especially in aquatic environments
Knowledge of microbiological and ecological sampling and analysis methods
