About the Job
Company Description
The Lab on a Chip & Biosensors Group of Prof. Sandeep K. Jha at Centre for Biomedical Engineering, IIT Delhi, is one of the forefront research teams in India. It works on microfluidics, point-of-care biosensors, and embedded systems for clinical applications.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi is a National Centre of Excellence for training, research, and development in science, engineering, and technology in India. Established in 1961, IIT Delhi has graduated over 50,000 individuals, including more than 5,500 with a Ph.D. degree. In 2018, the government of India granted IIT Delhi the special status of Institution of Eminence, providing greater autonomy in hiring and collaborations.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Molecular Biologist cum Biochemist in Lab on a chip & Biosensors Group of Prof. Sandeep K. Jha at Centre for Biomedical Engineering, IIT Delhi. The role involves conducting laboratory experiments, utilizing techniques in molecular biology, PCR, pathogen culture, genome analysis, and enzymology, such as optimizing new mastermix compositions and designing primers and probes.
In subsequent stages, the candidate has to deploy these assays into microfluidic devices or paper fluidic kits to develop a clinical diagnostic product. The candidate should also have hands-on expertise running a PCR machine, be able to culture microorganisms, and have handled clinical validation in at least one project. These skill sets are required beforehand, as the learning curve will be steep, and the project will be only 1.5 years. Candidates demonstrating this full potential can be enrolled in the Ph.D. program at the Centre as a career reward after successful completion of the project.
