Role Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Junior Microbiology Technician to join our laboratory team. The technician will support microbiological testing, maintain lab quality, and ensure compliance with protocols.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform microbiological tests on specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) using aseptic techniques
• Hands-on experience with ELISA and COVID-19 testing protocols (RT-PCR/Antigen preferred)
• Prepare and maintain reagents, media, and cultures for diagnostics and research
• Conduct routine quality control to ensure test accuracy
• Operate and maintain lab equipment: microscopes, centrifuges, incubators, analyzers
• Record and report test results accurately following SOPs and QA protocols
• Coordinate with healthcare professionals to ensure proper sample collection, handling, and transport
• Maintain detailed logs: test results, equipment, inventory
• Follow strict safety and hygiene protocols
• Stay updated with microbiology trends and diagnostic technology
• Assist in development and validation of new lab methods
Performance Metrics
• Turnaround Time (TAT)
• Accuracy of results
Required Qualifications & Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field
• 0–2 years of lab experience (clinical, food, or environmental microbiology)
• Familiarity with microbiological techniques and instrumentation
• Strong attention to detail and documentation
• Willingness to work in rotational shifts
