About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatics Associate to join our dynamic team in Nagpur. This role is ideal for early-career professionals with a foundational understanding of bioinformatics, and a strong interest or experience in agricultural genomics. You’ll work hands-on with real biological datasets, including Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS), and RNA-seq, in a collaborative research environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform bioinformatics analyses related to agricultural and plant genomes.
• Process and analyze data from NGS platforms (Illumina, PacBio, Oxford Nanopore).
• Assist in the development of custom bioinformatics pipelines.
• Collaborate with wet-lab scientists to interpret genomic data.
• Manage, curate, and annotate genomic databases.
• Document and present findings to internal teams and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biotechnology, Genomics, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of bioinformatics principles and common tools (e.g., BLAST, Bowtie, BWA, GATK, FastQC).
• Familiarity with agricultural or plant genomics is a strong advantage.
• Comfortable working with command-line tools and scripting in Python/R/Perl.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
• Hands-on experience with genome sequencing workflows: NGS, WGS, RNA-seq.
• Exposure to genome assembly, annotation, or variant calling.
• Experience working in research labs or agricultural genomics projects.
