Job Overview
As a Field Service Engineer I, you will be the face of Waters for customers across the Mumbai region, ensuring the successful installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our suite of analytical systems, including HPLC, UPLC, LC/MS, SFC, and Informatics tools. This role is ideal for professionals passionate about analytical instrumentation, customer success, and problem-solving in real-world scientific environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Waters’ instruments (LC, LC/MS, HPLC/UPLC, SFC)
- Deliver hands-on training to customers on system usage and best practices
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to drive satisfaction and retention
- Ensure adherence to customer compliance and Waters’ internal quality systems
- Maintain service inventory and submit daily field service reports
- Collaborate with the sales team to identify service contract opportunities
- Stay updated on customer applications and relevant scientific workflows (CDS, SDMS, LIMS, ELN)
- Comply with Health & Safety regulations and quality assurance protocols
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a related scientific field
- Candidates with equivalent technical training and relevant experience will also be considered
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in servicing or using analytical instrumentation
- Preferred: Experience with Waters products and/or LC, LC/MS, HPLC/UPLC, SFC systems
- Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting and system-level problem-solving capabilities
- Deep understanding of lab workflows and scientific applications
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Customer-centric attitude with a high sense of accountability
- Adequate written and verbal English proficiency
Travel Requirement
This is a territory-based role, primarily within Mumbai and surrounding areas. Occasional travel across India or internationally may be required for:
- Team meetings
- Advanced training sessions
- Local/global business support activities
