Biological Sciences Job Opportunity – Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualification: M.Sc. in Biological Sciences or higher qualification with experience in Molecular Biology Techniques.
- Experience: Minimum 2 Years post-qualification experience working in a reputed laboratory/institute in the field of molecular genetics (Clinical Diagnostics or Research Projects)
Biological Sciences Job Opportunity – Job Description:
- Significant experience in a molecular diagnostics laboratory with hands-on experience in different molecular hematological techniques, such as manual and automated DNA/RNA extraction, nucleic acid amplification tests, such as real-time PCR and all other PCRs, gel electrophoresis, Sanger Sequencing, Fragment Analysis, and NGS.
- The candidate must comply with the laboratory’s health and safety standards and demonstrate good laboratory practices at all times.
- The person should be prepared to do calls, including those at night, and to work on Holidays and Sundays in Molecular Genetics.
General Duties:
- Work as a team and share roles and responsibilities
- Take additional responsibilities to deal with staff shortages or increased workload
- Be prepared to stay beyond the regular working hours to deal with important routine or emergency work
- Maintain good documentation of their work
- Maintain and improve their technical and scientific competency through regular training sessions.
- Be ready to teach and train others from time to time
- Maintain a professional atmosphere within work areas
- Be prepared to take on managerial responsibilities such as those involving laboratory audit, inventory management, quality assurance, equipment maintenance, health and safety, duty rota development, writing standard operating procedures, human resource allocation in different sections of the laboratory, etc.
- Get involved and assist the laboratory in basic or clinical research. This may involve doing additional laboratory bench work or writing a manuscript for scientific articles. Presenting posters/papers in local/regional/national scientific meetings
