Birla Goa Campus, invites applications for the Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position in the Department of Chemistry. This role is part of a Department of Biotechnology (DBT)-funded project focusing on innovative therapeutic approaches for cataract treatment. Applications are invited for the position of JRF in the Department of Chemistry at BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus, Goa for a Department of Biotechnology sponsored research project on therapeutics to treat cataract.

Co-Principal Investigator: Prof. Angshuman Sarkar, Ph.D., FRSB
Broad area of Research: Protein Biochemistry and Biophysical chemistry
Project Details:
i) This project will involve cloning, expression & purification of recombinant proteins and their biophysical characterization.
ii) To test efficacy of small molecules in inhibiting cataract onset using in vitro experiments, cell culture and animal model-based experiments.
Duration of the project: 2.5 years. (The appointment will be renewed every year based on satisfactory performance).
Fellowship Amount (Rs.): Rs. 37,000.00 per month
Accommodation:
Hostel accommodation will be provided subjected to availability and will be governed by the rules and regulations of the institute prevailing at the time of joining of the candidate.Qualification: Candidates with M.Sc. (Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Microbiology/Life Sciences) or M.Tech. (Biotechnology) having NET/GATE/other equivalent exam may apply. Candidates having Hands on experience on basic molecular biology techniques, mutagenesis, cell culture will have added advantage.
