Role & responsibilities:
• Microbial Culture Handling: Perform culturing, sub-culturing, and maintenance of bacterial and fungal strains under aseptic conditions.
• Media Preparation: Prepare various microbiological media (solid and liquid) required for microbial growth and testing.
• Sterilization and Aseptic Techniques: Operate autoclaves, sterilize lab equipment, and ensure aseptic working conditions are maintained.
• Handling Lab Equipment: Use and maintain micropipettes, incubators, laminar airflow cabinets, microscopes, pH meters, and spectrophotometers.
• Colony Isolation & Streaking: Perform colony isolation techniques and streak plating; maintain microbial cultures and stocks.
• Microbial Testing: Conduct microbiological assays such as total microbial count, contamination checks, and pathogen detection.
• SOP Management: Prepare and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure adherence to lab protocols.
• Documentation & Reporting: Accurately record lab observations, maintain notebooks, and manage data as per regulatory and GLP guidelines.
• Support R&D / Quality Control Activities: Assist in research and development projects or support QC testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
• Lab Hygiene & Waste Disposal: Ensure proper disposal of microbial waste and maintain cleanliness and safety in the laboratory.
