Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, invites applications for the post of Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) in the Department of Virology. The position is part of the ICMR-funded project titled “Elucidation of Prohibitin as a Candidate Receptor Molecule and Development of Transgenic Cell Line for the Enhanced Growth and Replication of Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika.” This is a contractual position available until March 31, 2026, with remuneration of ₹56,000 + 20% HRA per month. Essential Qualifications for Project Research Scientist:

Candidates must meet the following academic qualifications to be eligible for this position:

  • First Class Postgraduate Degree (MSc) in any of the following subjects from a recognized university/institute:

    • Virology

    • Medical/Clinical Virology

    • Medical Microbiology

    • Microbiology

    • Biotechnology

OR

  • Second Class Postgraduate Degree (MSc)

    in the above fields with a PhD in relevant subjects from a recognized university/institute.

Desirable Qualifications for Project Research Scientist:

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Additional research/training experience in the relevant subject from recognized institutes.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, business intelligence tools, or data management.

Age Limit and Relaxation

  • Maximum Age: 35 years

  • Age relaxation will be provided as per Government of India guidelines.

Selection Process for Project Research Scientist:

  • Final Interview: The selection will be based on the candidate’s performance in the interview.
