THSTI-JNU PhD 2024-25 Admissions – Applications Invited
Admission to the Ph.D. Program for the 2024-25 (Winter Session)
- Applications are invited for the BRIC – THSTI – JNU Ph.D. Program. Candidates from Medical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematical, and Information Sciences are eligible to apply.
- THSTI is committed to conducting innovative translational research and developing research collaborations across disciplines and professions to translate concepts into products to improve human health.
- THSTI has established various centres namely:
- Centre for Maternal and Child Health
- Centre for Viral Therapeutics and Vaccines
- Centre for Tuberculosis Research
- Centre for Microbial Research
- Centre for Immunobiology and Immunotherapy
- Centre for Drug Discovery
- Clinical Development Services Agency
- Computational and Mathematical Biology Centre
- Centre for Bio-design and Diagnostics
These centres are strengthened by many core facilities namely:

- Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
- The candidate must possess a valid National-level fellowship of CSIR, ICMR, UGC, or DBT of 5 years for pursuing a Ph.D.
OR - Senior Research Fellowship of 3 years which should be extendable for 2 more years for pursuing a Ph.D.
Note: The validity for activation of the fellowship shall be for a period of at least 4 months from the last date of receipt of the application.
- The candidate must possess a valid National-level fellowship of CSIR, ICMR, UGC, or DBT of 5 years for pursuing a Ph.D.
- Selection Procedure:
- The shortlisted candidates will be called directly for the interview. The list of selected candidates will be published on THSTI’s website.
- Selection will be made based on the applicant’s performance in the interview. The interview will take place at THSTI, NCR-BSC, 3rd Milestone, Faridabad-Gurgaon Expressway, Faridabad – 121001.
- No. of seats: 8 [UR: 2; OBC: 3 (2 backlog seats); ST: 2 (1 backlog seat); EWS: 1]
Notes:
- Those who have obtained the fellowship under UR/EWS category will be entitled to fill up UR/EWS seats, and those who have obtained fellowship under OBC/SC/ST category will be entitled to fill up OBC/SC/ST seats respectively.
- The number of vacancies that are actually filled up may be less than the notified number of seats if sufficient suitable candidates are not found.
- General Terms & Conditions:
- Candidates appearing in the final qualifying examination for the National-level fellowship may also apply but must provide original documents during the interview.
- Reservation policy will be followed as per Government of India norms. SC/ST/OBC candidates must submit certificates from authorized officers as notified by the Government.
- The Ph.D. Program at THSTI is governed by JNU rules. For further details, please visit www.jnu.ac.in.
- Selected students will have to undergo Ph.D. coursework for 2 semesters. Those completing the coursework will be recommended to JNU for Ph.D. registration. For the award of the doctoral degree, all requirements as per JNU rules must be fulfilled.
- Admission fees, annual fees, registration fees, or any other fees levied by JNU shall be payable by the student.
- Selected students will have the option of shared hostel accommodation in lieu of their HRA.
- How to Apply:
- Documents to be kept handy before filling up the online application (all except (a) should be in PDF format):
a) A soft copy of your passport-sized photo and signature (jpeg/jpg/png format).
b) A comprehensive CV containing details of qualifications/distinctions, etc.
c) Matriculation certificate (equivalent to 10th Standard)/Mark sheet.
d) Intermediate certificate (equivalent to 12th Standard)/Mark sheet.
e) Graduation/Diploma degree certificate/Mark sheet.
f) Post-Graduation degree certificate and Mark sheet (if applicable).
g) Copy of Fellowship Award Letter and Score Card.
h) Caste/Disability certificate in the format prescribed by the Government of India, if applicable. - Procedure for filling up the online application:
a) Eligible candidates may apply online at the Institute’s website: www.thsti.res.in/career. Applications through any other mode will not be accepted.
b) Step-wise procedure:- Step 1: Details of the applicant.
- Step 2: Uploading of documents.
- Step 3: Payment of application fee.
- Payment can be made using Debit Card/Credit Card/Internet Banking/UPI.
- Once payment is made, no correction/modification is possible.
- Keep a copy of the provisional receipt for future reference.
- Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
- Details of fees:
- Unreserved/OBC/EWS: Rs. 236/-
- SC/ST/Women/PwBD: Rs. 118/-
- Step 4: Submission of application form.
- On successful submission, an auto-generated email with a reference number will be sent. Keep a note of the reference number.
- Print the online application form using the print button on the dashboard for future reference.
- Important Notes:
- Candidates must ensure they fulfill all eligibility criteria. If not, their candidature will be canceled.
- Incomplete applications will be rejected, and no correspondence will be entertained.
