ENGAGEMENT OF CONSULTANTS AS SERVICE PROVIDER AT REGIONAL CENTRE FOR BIOTECHNOLOGY (RCB)
Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB) is an Institution of National Importance established through an Act of Parliament by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, under the auspices of UNESCO. The primary focus of RCB is to provide world-class education, training, and conduct innovative research in multiple interdisciplinary areas of biotechnology.
RCB has been entrusted with the responsibility of developing and executing a globally competitive interdisciplinary PhD programme in biotechnology in collaboration with the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC) institutions (hereinafter iBRICs) and ICGEB. This programme, named i3c BRIC-RCB PhD Programme in Biosciences, was recently launched by the Hon’ble Minister for Science and Technology, Govt. of India. It is intended to be a world-class and pioneering research programme that integrates multi-disciplinary research, training, and innovation by converging the research efforts of all institutions for maximum societal and environmental impact.
In order to supplement the research and academic
wing of RCB and achieve the objectives of the i3c BRIC programme, expert consultancy services are required. The Centre invites online applications from those eligible, with the eligibility, consultancy fee, scope of work, and other terms & conditions as outlined below:Position | Consultant (Technical Expert Service Provider) |

Minimum Eligibility Criteria | |
Qualification | Post-graduate (Master’s degree in Life Sciences/Chemistry) with a minimum of 60% marks, or PhD in Life Sciences/Chemistry |
Experience | Minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience with demonstrated productivity in: |
– Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics | |
– Protein Expression, Purification & Molecular Interactions | |
– Optical Microscopy | |
– Electron Microscopy | |
– Flow Cytometry | |
– Genomics | |
Desirable | Previous experience in providing services in one of the above technology platforms |
Scope of Work | |
– Establish SOPs and process samples as per SOPs | |
– Provide hands-on training in different SOPs to students at RCB | |
– Organize practical training sessions for RCB courses | |
– Assist user scientists in data acquisition and provide technical services | |
– Troubleshoot instrument problems with authorized application scientists/engineers | |
– Liaise with service engineers/vendors to maintain equipment and software with minimal downtime | |
– Maintain records of financial and technical transactions (AMC/CMC, etc.) | |
– Coordinate with infrastructure and facility management teams for smooth operation | |
– Assist in organizing training courses, workshops, and conferences | |
– Contribute to activities related to ethical clearances, biosafety, etc. | |

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- The engagement will initially be for one year, extendable on mutually agreeable terms up to a maximum of three years.
- Periodic evaluation of the service provider will occur, and if found unsatisfactory, the contract will be terminated with one month’s notice.
- Either party may terminate the contract with one month’s advance notice in writing.
- The consolidated fee mentioned is indicative and will be decided by the Selection Committee.
- The contract will adhere to GFR and RCB’s extant rules, as applicable from time to time.
- Selected experts must visit the Centre regularly, and the monthly fee will be based on meeting the service requirements set by the Centre.
- This consultancy contract will not be considered an employment contract with the Centre.
- All educational, professional, and technical qualifications must be from a recognized Board/University.
- No TA/DA will be provided for interaction with the Selection Committee. Interaction may occur through online/VC mode if required.
- Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate.
- The number of experts is indicative and may increase or decrease based on the Centre’s needs.
- Fulfilling the minimum qualifications does not guarantee a call for the selection process. Only shortlisted candidates will be called by a Screening Committee.
- The Centre may create an empanelled list of experts valid for 12 months.
- The Centre reserves the right to withdraw the advertisement or reject applications without reason.
- All results and notifications will be published on the RCB website.
- Any disputes will be under the jurisdiction of the Courts at Faridabad/Delhi.
- Applicants providing incorrect information or violating norms will be disqualified.
- Decisions by the Competent Authority, RCB, are final.

Note: Applicants in regular government service must obtain prior permission from their parent organization. Positions are contractual with consolidated fees determined by the Centre. RCB will have no liability to the parent organization.
