School of Biological Sciences
The School of Biological Sciences (SBS) of NISER offers a vibrant winter internship programme where participants engage in various state-of-the-art research projects under the supervision of our faculties.
- Short-Term Winter Internship: 01st Dec. to 31st Dec. 2024
- Long-Term Internship: January 2025 to June 2025
Apart from regular project work, participants will also have opportunities to participate in various activities organized by SBS, including seminars on current research work in various fields and visits to different research laboratories of NISER. Students from across India are encouraged to apply.
Who can apply: Students pursuing B.Sc./M.Sc./Integrated M.Sc. degrees with Biology as a major subject.
How to apply:
- Interested students must first contact a faculty member from the School of Biological Sciences (SBS) under whom they wish to complete their winter internship, via email only.
- Upon receiving the faculty’s agreement to supervise, the candidate may then apply for the programme.

- The application form must be fully completed and countersigned by the respective Head of Department/Institution.
- The email consent from the faculty supervisor must also be attached.
- Soft copies of the duly filled-in application, certificates, mark sheets, email communications, etc. should be submitted to the SBS office.
- Incomplete applications will be summarily rejected.
Application form: The application form is attached on page 2 & 3 of this notification.
Fees: For long-term projects, students from private institutes must pay a project fee of ₹10,000/-.
Accommodation:
- Accommodation is limited and subject to availability. It will be chargeable at ₹20/- per day, with a refundable caution money deposit of ₹2,000/-.

Shortlisting:
- The names of shortlisted candidates will be uploaded on the School of Biological Sciences website (https://www.niser.ac.in/sbs/).
- The decision of the institute is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entertained regarding the programme.
