Applications are invited from suitable candidates (Indian Citizens) for one position of Junior Research Fellow in a DBT-funded Project entitled “Functional membrane – spanning amyloid pores: from structure and assembly to medicine” in the Laboratory of Dr. Mahendran K R at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (BRIC-RGCB), Akkulam Campus, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
Essential Qualifications:
- Good academic record with at least 70% marks in a Master’s Degree in Life Sciences, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Physics, or Biochemistry.
- The candidate should have qualified for the National Eligibility Test (CSIR/UGC NET/GATE).
- One year of experience working with membrane proteins, single-molecule biophysics techniques, synthetic cells, nanosciences, molecular biology, analytical chemistry, organic and inorganic chemistry.
Age: Below 32 years as of October 25, 2024. Age relaxation will be given as per Govt. of India norms.
Emolument: ₹ 37,000/- + 18 % HRA per month for NET/GATE qualified candidates.
Duration: Initially for a period of six months or until termination of the project (whichever is earlier) and extendable based on performance evaluation.
Selection Process:
- Applications should be submitted online.
- Candidates who are currently working in government firms should send applications through the proper channel.
- The last date for receiving completed applications is October 25, 2024.
- If a candidate wishes to apply for different positions, separate applications should be submitted for each position. Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co-terminus with the end of the project.
Applications not in the prescribed format will summarily be rejected.
Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply. Applicants will be shortlisted for the selection interview based on eligibility criteria. Selection of suitable candidates will be made based on qualifications and performance in the selection interview.
