Project Name: Study on the epigenetic mechanism of JAK-STAT driven plasticity in oral cancer stem cells for its therapeutic value
Project Description:
The dynamic phenotype switching results in lineage plasticity, causing high intratumoral heterogeneity in cancer cells, acting as a prerequisite mechanism facilitating initiation of cancer and adaptation under stress conditions. Thus, the mechanistic understanding of lineage plasticity is highly relevant for designing strategies to combat aggressive cancer. This project aims to study the role of the JAK-STAT pathway and histone modulation, responsible for cellular plasticity and drug tolerance in oral cancer. Mechanisms will be tested as novel therapeutic targets against intratumoral heterogeneity using preclinical models.
