Applications are invited from motivated and eligible Indian citizens for the position of Postdoctoral Fellow in the DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance sponsored research project entitled “Local thyroid hormonal state and early life epigenetic programming of pathological aggressive behaviour across generations” under the supervision of Principal Investigator (PI) Dr Arpita Konar, Assistant Professor, Institute of Health Sciences, Presidency University, Kolkata.
Job Title: Postdoctoral Fellow
Essential Qualifications:
- PhD in any branch of Life Sciences from any recognized University/Institute.
- Two first-authored publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Research background in molecular and/or behavioral neuroscience.
- Experience in primary brain cell culture and/or mouse handling.
- Experience in stereotaxic surgeries and electrophysiology.
Job Description:
The fellow will contribute to elucidating the role of brain thyroid hormone signaling in early life stress-induced aggressive behavior using a mouse model system. The fellow will take part in independent planning and execution of experiments, publishing scientific findings, training students, and setting up national and/or international collaborations.
Duration of Project: Three years.
Tenure of Assignment: One year. Can
be extended until the duration of the project, subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds.Fellowship/Salary: As per DBT norms – 67,000 INR + 27% HRA.
