Anatomic Pathologist for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship
Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota (USA). Announcing a fully-funded Research Fellow position under Dr. Akhilesh Pandey M.D., Ph.D. at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN in Dr. Akhilesh Pandey’s Systems Biology and Translational Medicine Laboratory. The lab is a multidisciplinary group of scientists and physicians and encourages innovation at all levels.
- Dr. Pandey’s lab specializes in combining genomics (RNA-Seq, Whole Genome Sequencing), CRISPR for generating cell and mouse models of human diseases, proteomics (including single cell proteomics), and metabolomics/lipidomics. The focus is on employing the latest technologies to dissect disease mechanisms, assist in differential diagnosis, and develop novel types of diagnostic assays. Dr. Pandey leads an NIH-funded “Mayo Clinic Center for Clinical Proteomics” for Myeloma research and has funding from various sources, including the Michael J. Fox Foundation and the Department of Defense. Most recently, the lab has discovered glycopeptides as novel biomarkers for congenital diseases of glycosylation and gastrointestinal cancers.
- The lab has two laser capture microdissection microscopes, slide scanners, and imaging platforms to integrate pathology research with clinically available archival tissues such as FFPE and frozen material. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to learn and deploy Omics technologies including proteomics, glycomics/glycoproteomics, lipidomics, and genomics with in-house support for data analysis by bioinformaticians. The candidate will be part of many ongoing projects and can also work on their focus areas with ample support from Mayo Clinic.
This is a full-time position based in Rochester, MN. Visa will be sponsored if needed.
This position is for pathologists who have completed training in anatomic pathology with a minimum of a 2-year research commitment. Board certification in the USA is not necessary.
