Research Fellow Positions Available in the NTRF-Sponsored Projects

Applications are invited to fill one Research Fellow vacancy under the following National Tea Research Foundation (NTRF) sponsored projects:

1. Tea Genome Sequencing Project – Phase III
   Project code: NTRF: 17(395)/2020-2 (TRA)-Phase 3/7763
2. Exploiting the Alternate Cost-effective Potash Sources for Sustainable Tea Production in Northeast India
   Project code: NTRF: 224/2024 vide letter no. 17(516)2023/7775 dated 09th April 2024

The positions are to be posted at Tocklai Tea Research Institute, Tea Research Association, Jorhat-785008, Assam as per the following details. The appointments will be purely on a temporary contractual basis, and the Institute will not provide any employment after project completion.

Project Duration:

Project 1: Will be of 2 years
Project 2: Will be of 3 years

Research Fellow

Upper Age Limit: 35 years

Number of Posts: 2 (Two), 1 in each project

Essential Qualification:

Project 1: M.Sc. in Biotechnology/Life Sciences

Project 2: M.Sc. in Soil Science/Chemistry/Life Sciences

Desirable Qualifications and Experience: Research experience in the relevant field.

Project 1: Rs.20,000 + 8% HRA p.m.

Project 2: Rs.20,000/- + 8% HRA p.m. for the 1st and 2nd years, and Rs.22,000/- + 8% HRA p.m. for the 3rd year

Project 1: Project-related research works. The candidate will be responsible for fieldwork, phenotyping, molecular and biochemical experiments.

Project 2: For lab and field works, soil sample collection from tea gardens, lab analysis, data collection and compilation, report preparation, etc. The candidate will also have the opportunity to register for a higher degree (subject to attaining the required qualification).

• Date and Time of Walk-in Interview: 20.05.2024,
• Time: 10:00 am onwards
• Venue of Walk-in Interview: STG Training Institute, Tocklai Tea Research Institute, TRA.

General Instructions:

1. The above posts are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.
2. Walk-in interviews will be conducted for selecting candidates on 20th May 2024.
3. Candidates should bring the filled-in application form and required documents (photocopies of testimonials of qualifications, mark sheets, experience, date of birth, etc.) along with originals for verification.
4. No TA/DA or any other expenses will be provided for attending the interview.
5. All other terms and conditions of appointment will be governed by prevailing Institute rules, and the decision of the Chairman of the Selection Committee will be final and binding.
6. Selected candidates need to join immediately or with very short notice.
7. The Director, Tocklai Tea Research Institute, Jorhat, Assam reserves all rights of selection or rejection of a candidature, including cancellation of the interview, without assigning any reason thereof.
