Position: Research Associate
Experience: 3 to 8 years
Qualification: M.V.Sc, M Pharm or M Sc in Life Sciences
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Handling and care of different species of animals
- Administering doses and collecting blood samples from animals through various routes
- Sound knowledge of mechanistic and regulatory toxicity studies
- Familiarity with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) principles and guidelines for preclinical studies
- Performing routine health checks on lab animals in accordance with AAALAC (Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care) standards
- Conducting GLP and non-GLP toxicity studies
Conduct of Non-clinical Toxicity Studies:
- Prepare study plans in compliance with OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) guidelines, Schedule Y, and FDA (Food and Drug Administration)
- Conduct live phase study parameters including dose formulation preparation, dose administration, body weight record, feed consumption record, clinical signs observations, functional battery test, and blood collections
- Collect tissues and make gross pathology observations
- Prepare reports after completion of each study, evaluating data output using scientific knowledge and skills
Data and Record Management:
- Record and compile study data according to GLP requirements
- Interpret and correlate live phase data with clinical investigations and histopathology findings
- Derive conclusions based on study results
- Conduct literature searches on toxicity profiles of tested compounds
- Maintain toxicology and animal facility records in accordance with AAALAC and GLP standards
